EDITING • PROOFREADING • MENTORING
I work with new writers one-on-one as an editor and mentor.
I’ve edited and done proofreading on journal articles and dissertations, technical writing, genre and mainstream fiction, and one screenplay. For small businesses and special events, I’ve written brochures and press releases. I especially enjoyed working on an Annual Report for the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.
In a volunteer capacity, I’ve written press releases for my church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal in Houston, to publicize liturgical and musical activities. A couple of these press releases appeared as articles in the Texas Episcopalian newspaper. I wrote 30-second radio spots on 88.7 FM KUHF Public Radio announcing St. Stephen’s events. If you want to know what really succinct writing is, try explaining an unusual church event in 30 seconds!
I did proofreading for St. Cecilia Chamber Music Society.
This book was authored by Fred Plummer, with whom I worked as a writing teacher and coach, and I’m very pleased with the outcome:
Project Engineering: The Essential Toolbox for Young Engineers by Frederick Plummer (Butterworth-Heinemann, a division of Elsevier, June 15, 2007)
I gave co-author Kristin Farry a great deal of editing and proofreading input, reading every chapter at least once and some of the chapters multiple times. This an excellent book and still in print. I’m glad I played a part in its creation.
Customer-Centered Products: Creating Successful Products Through Smart Requirements Management by Ivy F. Hooks and Kristin A. Farry (AMACOM, 2001)
